I don’t think that there can be a single mount that will work perfectly in 100% of vehicles and 100% of usage scenarios. Look at how many different mounting options are available for GoPro and other cameras. If this design doesn’t work for one person’s needs then that’s it - it’s doesn’t work for them. That’s fine; it doesn’t mean that it’s a “terrible solution,” it just means it doesn’t suit a certain set of needs.
Even if this new universal mount adapter isn’t a perfect fit for everyone, it still dramatically increases the mounting options available for the Waylens Horizon camera. Overnight, we essentially went from one official mounting option to hundreds (thousands?) of mounts which will work with this adapter. Offering an external GPS receiver also means that we won’t be stuck using the original windshield mount with its frustrating attachment mechanism if we want to use GPS data for our videos. Ideally I’d like to see support for Bluetooth GPS (like my XGPS160) to eliminate that extra wire, but this is a great step.
And I can 100% confirm @forum’s statement about listening to their customers. I’m sure I’ve overfilled the email@example.com email inbox on several occasions with comments, criticisms, suggestions, and complaints, and the Waylens staff has been incredible receptive and responsive to all of it. The product has its flaws and shortcomings, but I do truly believe that the company is committed to addressing as many of those as they can.
